McGowan - Figure 3 - FH: Pattern of Autosomal Dominant Inheritance

The focus of this presentation will be the small group of patients with severe heterozygous FH.  This population is defined as those individuals who, despite maximally tolerated lipid lowering therapy, have LDL-C levels >300 mg/dL without documented CHD, or who have CHD and LDL-C levels >200 mg/dL.  This is a group of people who are currently eligible for LDL apheresis in the United States; the level at which they become eligible for LDL apheresis is a bit of a moving target, but for this discussion these are the parameters we'll use.
