Management of Hyperglycemia in T2DM: Comorbidities: Liver dysfunction

Although liver dysfunction is another consideration (Figure 16), most of the drugs in Figures 4–6 have not been tested in patients with severe liver disease.  Although pioglitazone has been shown to help with fatty liver syndrome, insulin is the best option in patients with severe liver disease and given any concern about moderate-to-severe liver dysfunction, the recommendation is to use insulin.[2] Kapustin J.
