Earlier use of anti-TNF treatment leads to more favorable outcomes, most likely because of higher mucosal healing rates in patients receiving these agents early on.¹⁸ Since it is probably unrealistic to offer anti-TNF treatment to all patients with a new diagnosis of CD, biomarkers indicative of prognostic profile are needed.
