Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease
The GOLD guidelines[2] were developed for the following key reasons:
- To increase awareness of COPD among healthcare professionals, health authorities, and the general public.
- To improve the diagnosis, management, and prevention of COPD;
- To decrease the morbidity and the mortality associated with COPD.
- To stimulate research in the field of COPD management.
