Home NIV programs typically provide a range of services to patients
In addition to the NIV, these home-care NIV programs may provide a range of additional services. In the program used in this study the patients received a mix of additional education; oxygen, exercise, and pulmonary rehabilitation in some situations; nutrition counseling; frequent contact and monitoring; as well as respiratory care by a respiratory therapist. Typically respiratory therapists would visit the patient 2–3 times in the first week and then transition to weekly and eventually monthly visits, as the patient stabilizes.
