This Figure estimates the costs that occurred with those readmissions in the COPD population.  For 2012 the readmission costs prior to instituting the QI program were estimated to have been $2.7 million and after initiation of the program this decreased to $15,000^[7]; in 2013, the cost was $6.1 million for readmissions, decreasing to $120,000 after initiation; and in 2014, the costs associated with readmissions were >$10 million prior to initiating the Quality Initiative Program, and $75,000 after.
