My overall clinical results are in line with what was seen from the Barnes data,^[1] with decreased rates of hospitalization in my patients who are on NIV in the outpatient setting.  However I have identified several features that seem to be associated with failure of NIV (next Figure).  Moreover, because there are many factors that can lead to a patient needing admission to the hospital, we will need to identify these factors so that we can determine which components need to be addressed in order to determine where our cost savings can occur.
