Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease
The GOLD classification system[2] is based on patient profiles, symptoms, and the risk of exacerbation. This led to development of four patient profiles, which we will look at in the next figure. It also showed that patients who have GOLD class B and D are high healthcare utilizers, due to their predominance of symptoms.
