This Figure provides a graphic overview of what information the budget impact model (BIM) includes and how it was constructed.  The BIM assesses the perspectives of 3 different stakeholders: the hospital, the DME provider, and the payer.  The time horizon is 5 years for a hypothetical patient population of 1000 COPD patients, and within this time frame the BIiM accounts for patient mortality and dropouts.
