FIG. 20: There are other mechanisms by which sleep apnea can induce cardiac and vascular disease, one of which is inflammation. These data are from the Sleep Laboratory of Lena Lavie, DSc, at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel.[9] She showed that in patients with sleep apnea, the white cells appeared to be abnormal in the sense they tend to stick more readily to endothelial cells.
