FIG. 40:  From the same study (Figure 39), this Figure shows that the severity of sleep apnea has an effect on the likelihood of incident AF.^[30]  Thus for patients stratified as having mild, moderate, or severe OSA, it is clear is that the more severe the sleep apnea, the greater the likelihood of developing new-onset AF.  Patients with severe OSA had a 20% risk of developing AF over 15 years.
