Influence of OSA on Overnight Change in CV Variables
FIG. 9: This Figure shows overnight changes in systolic/diastolic blood pressure, stroke volume (SV), heart rate (HR), cardiac output (CO), and total peripheral resistance (TPR) in a group of patients with OSA (black bars) compared with patients with no sleep apnea (NSA; open bars).[3] The patients with OSA had greater overnight increases in systolic and diastolic blood pressure (BP), greater decreases in stroke volume and heart rate and cardiac output, and significantly greater increases in total peripheral resistance vs the NSA patients. .
Thus, this Figure shows the adverse overnight hemodynamic effects of OSA in patients with heart failure compared to a control group with heart failure but without OSA.
