Transplant-free Survival According to Effect of CPAP on CSA
FIG. 21: To test the hypothesis that there are two groups of patients with different responses to CPAP, we did a post hoc analysis of the CanPAP results, looking at the CPAP-suppressed responders.[11] We compared the group in whom we were able to get the AHI to <15 at 3 months after randomization to CPAP with the group in whom we are not able to suppress their CSA and whose AHI remained >15 at 3 months of CPAP.
The Figure shows the results of this post-hoc analysis in those 2 groups versus the control group, and it is apparent that the group in whom we were able to suppress CSA had a much better survival than either the group in whom we were not able to suppress the CSA or the control group.
