FIG. 10:  It seems to be clear that there is a positive relationship between the oral dose or plasma level of opioid and the severity of CSA.[8]  A direct relationship between the morphine-equivalent daily dosing (MEDD) and development and severity of CSA has been reported in several studies: the greater the MEDD, the greater the risk of developing CSA and the greater the severity of CSA.
