FIG. 27:  In addition to modifying medications to decrease the risk for CSA, as mentioned above, it should also be noted that new medications may affect SDB.  A study by Farney et al^[9] looked at the role of the opioid partial μ-agonist, buprenorphine (used for opioid dependency), and found that the risk for Op-CSA was not reduced by this medication.  Thus, physicians should not be reassured when patients on chronic opioids transition to this class of medications.
