FIG. 43: Bearing in mind all the potential mechanisms discussed above, it may be prudent to do a slow titration to avoid abrupt arousals. Physicians should also avoid overtitration to decrease the likelihood of mask or oral leak. Moreover, avoiding overtitration would also avoid increasing lung volumes, which might increase plant gain and activate lung stretch receptors, thus inducing CSA. These recommendations are largely anecdotal and speculative, however; data are needed to show the best modality and way of treating TE-CSAs.
