Adaptive Servo-Ventilation
FIG 12: Another approach in cases like this one is to apply adaptive servo-ventilation (ASV). This increases pressure support during periods of hypoventilation and reduces pressure support during hyperventilation; this leads to a stabilization of respiration and ultimately to normalization of respiration in the majority of patients.
