FIG. 7:  This Figure summarizes the ATS/ERS 2013 statement on pulmonary rehabilitation.[6]  Pulmonary rehabilitation is considered a comprehensive intervention and is usually administered by an interdisciplinary team.  It is based on a thorough patient assessment initially, followed by patient-tailored therapies, which include exercise training, education, and behavior modification.  These interventions are designed to improve the physical and the emotional condition of patients with COPD and to promote the long-term adherence to health-enhancing behaviors.
