FIG. 27:  A smaller study in 25 patients after they received neoadjuvant chemotherapy showed a response rate of some 40%.[17]  The regimen used was paclitaxel, carboplatin, and gemcitabine.  I would consider radio-chemotherapy if the tumor is not resectable, but, again, surgery would be the preferred mode of therapy.  Nevertheless, if a case is locally advanced or even metastatic, overall 5-year survival is as low as 10%.
