FIG. 19: This Figure shows the Forest plot of the results of a recent meta-analysis of small cohort studies with limited numbers of patients receiving an ERBT.[23] With a mean follow-up of 19 months, the recurrence rate was superior to what is seen currently with traditional TURBT, with >90% of the patients having a negative margin status, and >60% of recurrences being out-of-field recurrences.
These data will need to be confirmed, and properly designed prospective clinical trials comparing en bloc to standard resection are underway.
