FIG. 28: A recently published meta-analysis reported that the risk of tumor recurrence is decreased by about 90% at ≥1 year, 30% at 3–12 months, and 40% at 3 months (Figure).[35] While the strength of evidence was low, these data were consistent across all the studies in the meta-analysis. There was no effect on cancer progression or mortality, probably because follow-up was not long enough in most of the trials for these events to have occurred .
