Title Slide

My name is Zoltan Sarnyai. I'm a medically trained neuroscientist. I was trained as a postdoctoral research fellow in psychiatry at McLean Hospital at Harvard. Started my independent research at The Rockefeller University, and I had a faculty appointment at the University of Cambridge for eight years in the Department of Pharmacology. Since 2012, I've been in Australia at James Cook University, and I'm currently a professor and the head of the Margaret Roderick Centre for Mental Health Research. My own research over the last 10 years has been mainly focusing around what we would call metabolic psychiatry, metabolic aspects of brain health, and the development of psychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on ketogenic metabolic therapy. And this is what I'm going to talk about today. I'm going to focus on underlying neurobiological mechanisms of action behind the potential therapeutic efficacy of ketogenic metabolic therapy.

Following my presentation, I will be joined by Dr. Julie Milder, a neuroscientist and director at Baszucki Group, where we will discuss some of the topics that come up during my presentation.
