Marker Sensitivity and Specificity: Meta-analyses

FIG. 8:  There are several meta-analyses analyzing the sensitivity and specificity of available biomarkers.  Overall several common themes are evident.  Cytology has an inferior sensitivity but a superior specificity compared to commonly available urine biomarkers.  While this not an all-inclusive list, it is clear that most urine biomarkers have a better sensitivity, overall, than cytology, but their specificity is inferior by 10-20%.
