Bladder Cancer Costs

FIG. 3:  Bladder cancer is an important healthcare problem.  It is an extremely common cancer, ranked as fifth, sixth, or seventh most common, depending on how you define it, and it is one of the most expensive human malignancies to manage.  Figure 3 shows the annual costs of bladder cancer across the European Union, up to €13,000 per patient per year,[2] which combined with the incidence and the long natural history of bladder cancer adds up to a huge financial burden for healthcare sectors.  Bladder cancer is probably the third or fourth most prevalent cancer because of its long natural history,[1] and as a consequence, we need to focus on follow-up.
